Invited Talks in nuclear engineering: 9:15 - 11:30 a.m.; 1:15 - 3:00 p.m.
The talks will be held in the morning and early afternoon, and will focus on fusion, plasma applications, medical imagery and radiation detection, the national laboratories' roles in the future of nuclear energy, and energy policy and nuclear power.

50th Anniversary Dedication Ceremony: 5 p.m.
A short ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. to dedicate a memorial paver on the east side entrance to Alice Campbell Alumni Center. The paver will read: “Celebrating 50 years of nuclear engineering at the University of Illinois. September 12, 2008.”
NPRE Alumni and Friends Social Gathering: 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Guests will be encouraged to mingle and renew friendships in the Alice Campbell Alumni Center Richmond Reception Gallery.
NPRE Alumni and Friends 50th Anniversary Dinner: 6:30 p.m.
Following the dinner, the program will start at 7:30 p.m., and will include presentation of the NPRE Distinguished Alumni Awards and other recognitions. Also included in the program will be the showing of the "NPRE: Celebrating 50 Years at Illinois" video that highlights fathers of NPRE’s programs, Profs. Roy A. Axford, Daniel F. Hang, George H. Miley and Barclay G. Jones, as well as provides a glimpse of the Department today and promise for the future.

Saturday, September 13
College of Engineering Quad

NPRE 50th Anniversary Tent Party: Time to be announced, depending upon televising of the Fighting Illini football game versus Louisiana-Lafayette.
The tent will be situated on a concrete area north of Green Street between Everitt Laboratory and Engineering Hall. Tours will be conducted of NPRE administrative offices in Talbot Laboratory, NPRE research laboratories in the Nuclear Engineering Laboratory and Nuclear Radiation Laboratory, as well as College of Engineering facilities including Engineering Hall and Grainger Engineering Library. Guests are encouraged to park near the Engineering Quad and use shuttle buses to get to and from Memorial Stadium for the game.
